A shoulder impingement is a general term for when you get pain on raising you arm above your head, this can be either out in front or out to the side.
- forward shoulders
- Repetitive overhead movements such as lifting, weights, sports such as tennis and golf.
- inflammation of tendons and bursae
- dull or sharp pain in the front or side of the shoulder on raising the arm wither out to the side or out in front over the head.
- weakness in arm on lifting.

Postural exercises including stretching and strengthening will help to fix the root cause of the issue creating more space for the structures inside the shoulder joint move more freely.
If a shoulder impingement wont get better then further investigation will be required from a specialist. Cortisone injections can help to reduce the inflammation throughout rehab. The worse case scenario would be surgery.
